5 Ways To Have More HOPE

Having hope is the difference between a life of drudgery and misery and a life of fulfillment and joy. We all have days now and then where we struggle to have hope and that is normal, its when the days turn into weeks that we really want to change some things up to enable hope back into our lives.
Here are 5 ways that I have found helpful in keeping hope in my life.

  1. Having goals; working towards something gives us motivation and a reason to act. Whether it is a personal goal of change or a external goal of going somewhere or doing something, it is important to always have a goal. We need to visualise these goals as if they are here already. See them as not in the future, but something that you have already completed. This way our subconscious thinks it has already materialised and you will manifest them a lot quicker.
  2. Have a gratitude journal; I have found a really cool free app called Zest. You can add photos and it has a daily reminder which you can change the time. It is great to add to it each evening, looking back over your day and seeing what great things happened that day. They can be as simple as you want. One of mine was going into the city and finding there was already money on my meter. One particular down day I found it very uplifting to go back to the beginning and re-read all my entries.
  3. Essential oils; quality therapeutic oils raise your vibration and enable us to feel energised and encouraged. There are a number of oils that could assist you if you've been feeling hopelessness, the best advice is to smell the different ones and see which one really smells the best and resonates with you. That would be your body saying that's the one it wants.
  4. Ask, Believe and Receive; whether you interpret this as prayer or putting your intention out to the universe, it doesn't seem much different to me in the end. Having faith in a higher being or believing the universe will bring you what you need is what point no.4 is about. We often think too much about what we don't want, rather we need to focus on what we do. Its okay to be aware of what we don't want but then we need to turn it round and ask for it believing we will receive it. As we believe, we will manifest it.
  5. Diet and exercise; there is so much information out there attesting to the power of making sure you drink enough water, that you eat healthy and get in some exercise. Even if you're exercise is walking, at least it is something and it will benefit you. Getting out in nature is a great cure for hopelessness for some, so find what works for you and try to do it daily.

5 Ways To Use Visualisation More Effectively

Visualisation is the ability to use our imagination. Most of us know what it is like to day-dream and imagine a future the way we would like it to be. The challenge can be when we have been given negative input and we battle to believe that we can be or do any of the things we would love to imagine. This negative input, if we believe it can hold us back and is called limiting beliefs. Our limiting beliefs are stored in our sub-conscious and can be a challenge to overcome. This is where our fears and self-talk over-ride our desire to do. Limiting beliefs are the negative things we tell ourselves or believe, which in turn get in the way of us achieving.

Limiting beliefs have mostly come from the things others have said to us. It is just brain-washing that comes from their limited perspective. People see what others do and make a judgment which is often not accurate. Often it has come from a person's frustration and lack of understanding. It is sad when children in particular are fed unhelpful statements and then believe that they are true This can then effect them for life doing untold damage which stops them from achieving and really enjoying their lives. If you feel this is you, then don't give up, there are ways to overcome and break through these negative limiting beliefs.

Other limiting beliefs have also come from our own limited perspective, where we didn't have the tools or understandings to know how to do something and therefore arrived at a place where we believed we couldn't. Our resilience and ability to bounce-back from challenges, and our capacity to see things as they really are, all makes an impact on how we respond to any given situation and therefore, can add to our limiting beliefs.

When we use visualisation we can change these limiting beliefs . As we routinely practise this skill we will begin to see ourselves as being able to move past these limiting beliefs and overcome the fears and achieve our true potential. It is recommended that we practise 2-3 times a day; first thing in the morning, last thing at night and some time in the middle of the day.

How to use visualisation:
  • Get somewhere comfortable, you can be sitting or lying down.
  • Breath in and out deeply as many times as needed to let help you relax
  • Start at your toes and move up through your body naming up all your body parts, tensing them and letting them relax
  • As thoughts come just observe them and let them go again
  • Picture yourself doing the things that you want to achieve or become
Some people find is hard to concentrate and use visualisation effectively but maybe it's because of the way you're doing it. Here are 5 ways to make visualisation really powerful.
  1. Attach an emotion to it. When you feel emotions around your visualisation you are giving them power. Name up the emotions you are feeling during your visualisation.
  2. Visualise yourself as if it is present tense, not in the future. See yourself as if it is happening now.
  3. See yourself as a multi dimensional real existence, not just an image. Use your senses and thoughts in your visualisation. 
  4. Have hope and expectations that you will manifest your visualisations. Feel they are permanent. This is likely to happen as you use all the above.
  5. Attach affirmations to your visualisations to help overcome limiting beliefs. Use gratitude; start the phrase with "I am so grateful now that....".
Affirmations are positive statements said in the present tense to re-program your thinking. Some examples could be:
  • I am worth loving, there is love all around me.
  • My day begins and ends with gratitude and joy
  • I am a unique beautiful soul.
  • Abundance flows through me.
  • I take in and give out nourishment in perfect balance.
  • I rejoice in the love I encounter everyday.
  • Life brings me only good experiences, I am open to new and wonderful changes
  • I forgive everyone in my past for all perceived wrongs, I release them with love.
  • Every experience I have is perfect for my growth.
  • I respect and honour my beatiful and healthy body.
  • My heart is open and I have an abundance of love for myself and others.
  • Life loves me and I love life. I now choose to take in life fully and freely.
  • I have the courage to stand tall and live my potential

Affirmations used routinely can make all the difference to help us overcome our limiting beliefs. As you become aware of the negative blocks holding you back, you can create affirmations that directly counteract those beliefs.

If you use visualisation in this deeper manner, you will find much success and with time, release those limiting beliefs and start to live your true potential. Through this process you begin to realise that the only thing holding you back is yourself. As we allow ourselves to get out of the way, we can find the joy and abundance in life that we really desire and deserve.

How to Have Abundance Through the Law of Receiving

Have you ever said to yourself when I have, then I can give? It is a common thought that we cannot give until we have but if we remain on this thought pattern, we will never have. The law of receiving finds that unless we can sacrifice of ourselves and learn to give without thought of getting, then we will never receive. We tell ourselves that we cannot give until we receive and then do absolutely nothing about it. We continue on in the same mental rut as before, then are surprised when we don't receive the abundance we want.

Having an abundant mindset is about believing there is enough whatever the resource is; it could be time, knowledge, money, even kindness, To be able to enlarge our capacity to give, we need to be open to giving no matter how little we have. We need to believe there is enough and when we give of our resources, no matter how meager they are, the universe will compensate and restore to us and we will end up more abundant than when we started.

Understanding the law of receiving is helpful to motivate us to desire an abundant mindset. The law is simple: what measure you give is what measure you receive. If you give willingly and freely, you will receive just as freely. (NB this does not mean we be foolish with our resources and not manage our own situation sensibly.)

Lets try it as a visual image: as you give abundantly, you are freeing your hands to receive. When you cling to something and refuse to give freely, your fingers are closed, and your hands and arms are laden down with your grasp and there is no room to receive more. This example can be used with anything at all; knowledge, ideas, kindness, love, time, material and monetary possessions.

Most of us want to expand our abilities, to make money, to grow our investments and opportunities, to enlarge our influence and to be able to assist our family and friends. But if we do not act as if we already can and do nothing towards our desires, we find that nothing changes and we then complain that the universe is against us. We need to walk in faith, so to speak, acting in faith, that whatever our desires are, will be accomplished.

Part of this acting is also about doing all we can to improve our circumstances. The Internet for example, is a wonderful resource where we can learn so very many things. Just by watching a YouTube clip, you can learn to do almost anything. You can learn a new skill (my daughter taught herself to knit through this process), you can learn new ways to respond to a difficult child or how to better manage your finances and what to do and say to your debtors when you cannot pay a bill. Whatever your desire is to expand and improve, you have the opportunity to research and learn. Through this process of acting you are using the law of receiving because as you give of your time and energy, you will receive in return. You will receive knowledge and inspiration of how to move forward towards the abundant life you wish for.

The other side of the law of receiving is to help others have an abundant life. This will only work when we assist others who are prepared to act. If we continually give of our resources to those who are not then we are not truly helping them.To live an abundant life we need to become self reliant and we want to help others achieve this also. For example we often use this quote in society; Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime. When we speak of giving and helping others to be abundant, we need to teach them in a way that allows them the opportunity to use the same law. 

Understanding the law of receiving enables us to become abundant as we give of our resources, act on our desires, learn to become self-reliant and teach others to do the same. Through this process we will receive immeasurably and find the abundance we so deeply desire.

Do You Allow Your Ego To Lead Out?

Our ego is that self centred voice in our head that wants to be satisfied but never is. Its the egotistical or selfish side of us. The ego is obsessed with winning at all costs. The ego is fearful and takes offense easily. The ego only thinks of itself and is not interested in others.

When we are faced with any given situation but particularly with a challenging situation, we need to be careful we don't allow the ego to lead out. We need to keep our ego in check and when we do feel like taking offense, we can say to ourselves, 'Oh that is just the ego getting upset". If we can take a step back and separate the ego from ourselves and understand that the ego is not us and that we are more than the ego, then we can realise that we do not have to listen to it at all.

When the ego pipes in with its thoughts or demands, we have a choice of whether we listen to it or not. The ego is an invitation, albeit a rather demanding one, but an invitation nonetheless. We can know when the ego has surfaced because our temperature starts to rise, we become hot under the collar, defensive, even angry and confrontational. Other times we put a wall up and we pull away and cut ourselves off. We become disinterested in others perspectives and refuse to listen or understand. It is also interesting to tune into our heart because in this situation our heart begins to harden, shrivel and move back into its cavity.  

When we tell our ego to pipe down and get over themselves, we give opportunity for our compassion to step up and take over. Now we are leading out with love and understanding and we can come to realise that other's perspectives are their own due to limited understandings and we don't have to let them effect us. The ego is self serving and will not lead you to happiness. When we lead out with compassion and love on the other hand, we will find greater opportunity for connecting with others. Our heart will be opened and we will enjoy feelings such as forgiveness, joy, gratitude and courage. Life will be more enjoyable for everyone but especially for ourselves.


5 Ways ToTune Into The Abundance Frequency

We need to be on the right frequency to accept abundance into our lives. If we are on the scarcity frequency we will not be available to the great things we could receive. To read more about the difference between abundance and scarcity read here

When we feel abundance, we feel love, therefore the abundance frequency is the same as being on the love frequency. When we are on the love frequency we will tune into and receive all that there is on that frequency.

We know when we are on the abundance frequency because we have love in our lives. We love our life and we receive all things we love. We love our family and friends, we love our job or work we do, we love all aspects of our lives. If there is an aspect of your life that you don't love, then for that aspect you are on a different frequency. Whatever frequency you are on, you will receive more of that frequency. So if you are on the scarcity or fear frequency, that is all you can receive.

We can change the frequency we are on at any given time. You move as your mood changes, as long as you are on that particular frequency for more than 50% of the time, you will receive on that frequency.

We can move ourselves back onto the abundance frequency as often as we need to every time we realise we've moved off it. We just need to change our thoughts and feelings. When we think of things we love and feel that love, we automatically move to the love frequency. It is as simple as that!

Here are 5 ways to do that:

  1. Breathe out your negative feelings of frustration etc and visualise letting it go. Breathe in good energy and feelings of love. Feel your shoulders relax, calm your mind and bring peace to your soul.
  2. Visualise your heart. When you are angry or hurt, your heart shrivels and literally moves back into the cavity. As you breathe out and let negative feelings go, visualise your heart enlarging and softening. Feel it moving forward and expanding in its cavity.
  3. Send love to the person who has upset you. Say out loud that you love them, pretend you are talking to them and tell them sincerely how much you really do love them and how sorry you are for the miscommunication. It doesn't matter whose fault it is, it matters that you forgive them and let it go so you can return to the abundance frequency and give and receive love.
  4. Look for opportunities to help others; when we show kindness we automatically move onto the abundance frequency.
  5. Being grateful; when we can find things to be grateful for we feel love, so we automatically move to the abundance frequency. To read more on how to cultivate gratitude read here
Teaching ourselves to be on the abundance frequency more than 50% of the time is like exercising a muscle. The more we use it, the stronger it becomes. The key is to use these strategies and act as soon as we realise we have moved away from it. As we do this we will feel and see an abundance of love in our lives and it will make all the difference.

Did you know that every physical ailment has an underlying emotional cause?

 Have you noticed that you get a cold when you have been feeling stressed or overwhelmed?

Have you noticed you get back or hip pain just before you are about to embark on a trip or you are anxious about a big change in your life?

Have you noticed you put weight on when you have been feeling insecure or vulnerable and unfulfilled?

Have you noticed you get fatigued when you have been feeling apathetic and stuck in your job, relationship etc?

Have you noticed you get depressed when you have been feeling angry, hopeless or self-critical?

Have you noticed you get the flu when you've been feeling pessimistic or hopeless?

Have you noticed you get seasonal allergies when you have been feeling repressed, fearful, grieving or angry?

Humans are an energy with cells that vibrate at a particular rate and on particular frequencies. To read more about our bodies being a vibrating energy go here. Our emotions are also energy that impacts on the vibration of our cells. When we feel positive emotions, our vibration increases and we receive energy and the body can dispose of any acidic build up. Acidic build up is created through stress, a poor diet and breathing in and using toxic chemicals. When we feel negative emotions, our vibrations slow down which depletes our energy and in turn adds to our acidic build up. Our bodies cannot get rid of the acid if our cells are vibrating too slowly and cannot get into a momentum that moves it.

When our vibration slows down, the body responds by letting the body know. It needs to excrete the acidic load through colds, flues and temperatures. If the vibration remains stagnant for too long the acidic build up becomes stuck within the body, this is termed having blocked emotions. This is when the body responds in prolonged pain. People often have operations to cut out the acid, such as fluid, tumours etc but the issue still remains and unless the negative emotion is addressed, the problem will return, either in the same or different areas of the body.

People such as naturopaths that use energy healing can help you release these blocked emotions. I had a bulging disk in my back since I was a young adult, which was quite excruciating at times. I did not want an operation and so had been going to a chiropractor for many years but found that after a short period of time it kept coming back. As long as I kept up the weekly visits it kept it at bay. This was ok for a while, but eventually I went to a naturopath that used energy healing.  She was able to pinpoint what the negative emotion had been and I remembered a prolonged period of time as a teenager when I felt unsupported and unhappy. She was able to release the negative energy and I used affirmations and visualisations of love and support to assist me in my recovery. This was 5 years ago and I have never felt any of that terrible pain again. Sometimes I feel a twinge in my back and I am reminded that I need to address any fear or negative emotion that I am feeling. This way my pain serves as a reminder to me to look after my body and give it the attention it deserves.

Our bodies are inter-connected by all that impacts on our lives. When we speak of health, we need to speak of all our body systems including our emotional, spiritual and mental health. The Ten Most Powerful Ways to Overcome Negative Self-Defeating Thoughts and Feelings.

Do you battle to overcome negative defeating thoughts and feelings? 

I think most people do in this sedentary, indoor, socially isolated, fast food-laden, sleep-deprived frenzied pace of modern life.

That is unless you take action and decide you don't want to live your life that way. If you've made this decision, congratulations, you've joined the small but growing community that have come to the realisation that we need to look after ourselves if we wish to be emotionally strong and enjoy feelings of well being.

I am a school teacher and over the years have taught lots of kids about how to look after their emotional health. I am passionate about this subject and really love helping others learn about emotional intelligence. 

Top 10 tips for overcoming these negative thoughts and feelings plus an important bonus tip. 
  1. Look for opportunities to be grateful and keep a gratitude journal and write in it daily; say thank you often throughout the day, say it 3x; thank you, thank you, thank you. Even better if you can say it out loud! If you're feeling particularly negative and cant find anything to be grateful for, just through saying, I am so grateful, not even having an ending, uplifts you. Try it! When writing look for depth over breadth. Rather than writing long lists, just write a couple of things but write deeper about them, so you can really feel it, writing about people conjures up a more powerful emotional response than things.   2. Use affirmations and visualisations; make it a daily habit, choose a time frame and stick to it. As you visualise seed the emotion and feel the joy as you see yourself how you want to be, not in the future but right now, as if you have already become that person.   3. Use meditation and breathing exercises; this helps you be in the present, slow your thinking down, ground you and helps bring peace. When you feel particularly negative about something, take a deep breath and breath it out. Feel your shoulders relax and visualise the negative energy being released out through the breath. Say to yourself as you do this, Out with the old, in with the new, image the new air is positive, uplifting energy.
  4. Look for daily opportunities to do acts of kindness. Psychologists have coined the term 'helpful high', this is the uplifting feeling you get when you reach out to others. It works!
  5. Know your passion and spend time doing it, daily if you can. If you don't know what your passion is, you have some homework to do, life will be a whole lot more meaningful if we spend time living our passion.

  7. Take care of your body; this includes physical such as sleeping, eating and exercise, as well as spiritual, mental and emotional health. We need to look after our whole body.
  8. Foster meaningful relationships with other people; connect with others, it doesn't have to be many but they have to be real. Do you struggle with having friendships? Consider this golden nugget; to have a friend, you need to be a friend.....
  9. Learn to forgive; yourself as well as others, live with peace of mind. Sometimes this is hard but when we accept forgiveness into our lives, we will be much happier.

I suggest an early morning routine; get up before everyone else, even if it is just half an hour.
